LaPaz, Bolivia 1982

There is a train that goes from LaPaz, Bolivia to Antofagasta, Chile and when my wife, Regina, and I decided to move to Chile we took that long ride down with the final destination of Santiago. Loading up our suitcases on the crowded train at the LaPaz station was a challenge as everyone would rush in and claim a space. While both of us were packing things one of our sons kept hanging out the window looking outside. I pulled him by his belt back on the seat, but he kept repeating that insisting on hanging out the window. Then, all of the sudden he fell out the window! The train was going to take off at any minute and we were so afraid of what just happened! We cried out, “Oh, Lord, please don’t let him die!” I rushed out and brought him back in the train. Amazingly he had fallen square on his back in a grassy area. He had the wind knocked out of him, but he was breathing, not crying, and with a shocked look on his face! We moved every part of his body around and he did not cry out in pain. What a miracle, nothing was broken! This made me realize that it is true, the angels watch over our children! Had he fallen in any other way, or after the train was moving, he would have been killed. Our life story would have been very different if we would have had to have gone through a trauma like that! Many people have lost their children by accidents, and our heart goes out to them. Always pray for the protection of our children, God will protect them.
